The History Of Feniton FC

The football team at Feniton was formed over 85 years ago and have played in all the various local leagues and cup competitions over this period.

The men's senior sides play in the Devon and Exeter Premier and Intermediate leagues, we are one of few village teams with a team in the Devon and Exeter premier league. A new Feniton side is being formed for the season of 2006/2007 to encourage younger players to participate in the men's league. A ladies side joined the Westward Development league for the season of 2003/2004 and have been very successful in gaining promotion to the premier division commencing 2005. The club has over the years supported youth football from under 11 to 16, from which has seen many players move onto the senior sides. Over recent years Mini Soccer has featured very successfully.

The original wooden changing rooms shared with cricket and the local playgroup were replaced with updated facilities in 1980 and the clubhouse followed eight years later. The original pitch was developed for housing in 2000 and the move to the existing top area was made with the final pitch set up the new changing facilities in 2004. The quality of the pitches playing surfaces and the excellent facilities we feel are one of the best in East Devon.

Feniton, which is essentially still a village club, has always played an active role in local football, providing many referees and league officers over the years. The club has been helped financially over the years and is extremely greatful for their support. The new changing facilities have shown what can be achieved by local effort, however special mention must be made of the help and assistance by the builders Millwood Homes have given to the project. The final result is very much due to their generosity and technical support during the project. Additionally the local councils and the Football Foundation have helped tremendously with grants and loans.
